Extensive Sorc Guide

I made this Guide for the Sorcs from my guild (Niflheim) initally, but I decided to share it with everyone.

SKILLS/BUILD
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will use bdotome for skill names and skillbuilds: blackdeserttome.com/calculator/sorcerer
1. Dark waves is your bread and butter skill for PvE. This is the main skill you will be using to clear monster zones.
This is the first skill you will need to maximize out.

2. Claws of Darkness is second best skill for PvE. It is also the skill you will use most often, both in pve & pvp. So you need this maxed out as soon as possible too.

3. The other 2 skills that are absolutely necesary for your leveling experience are: night crow (with all of its subskills) & Shield of Darkness.
4. You should try to get Mark of Shadow skill too, but only at tier 1. Why? To gather & steal mobs
And that's about it. These are the absolutely necesary skills.
Other than that you will need the skills that have a CC effect and the skills that will help you close up the distance between you and your enemy.
By level 50 you should have this skill build: blackdeserttome.com/calculator/sorcerer/1223
By level 55 your skill build should look like this: blackdeserttome.com/calculator/sorcerer/1224
And by lvl 57 your skill build should look like this: blackdeserttome.com/calculator/sorcerer/1225
By that level you will also get the awakening. The skill points for it will come from the quests required to enable the awakening. By that time you should know what skills to get, but you kind of need them all
In pvp the only way to fight as sorc is to: stun with S+E, get close, knock down, do dmg, run - and repeat. This works against all classes.
Against warriors it gets easier for you. While they put their guard up, you can heal yourself with LMB+RMB skill while still doing dmg.

ITEMS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. ARMOR
The armor you will start with, at around lvl 20 is Agerian. You will use this until you get the next armor. If you have the blackstones, you can enchant it to +5.
The next armor you will get after Agerian is: Zereth shoes + Taritas Helmet + Taritas chest piece + Taritas gloves. You'll have to make this one +10. The best startegy is to make it +10, grind money with it, and buy one +15.
When Mediah content comes out, you will have to sell the +15 armor and buy +15 Grunil Armor - all 4 pieces (wait 2 weeks or so for prices to get low, since at beginning they will be high).
The end-game armor you will be using is the Boss Armor: Red nose chest piece (dropped by Red nose and Contaminated Imp capitan ) / Hebetate tree spirit's armor (droped by Hebetate tree spirit), Giath's Helmet (droped by Giath, Bheg's Gloves (droped by Bheg) & Muskan's Shoes (droped by monastery leader);
B. WEAPON

First weapon you will start with and use until level 35-40 is the Azwell Amulet. You can make it +7, but no more.
The next weapon that you will be using until you get the end-game one is Yuria Amulet. You will need to make this one +15. Best strategy is to make it +10, grind money with it & buy +15.
The end-game weapon that you will be using is: Kzarka Amulet.

C. Off-Hand
The first off-hand that you will be using, because you might drop it when you are around lvl 20, will be Helrick Talisman. If you don't drop it, no biggie. No need to upgrade this one, but if you have stones to waste, you can make it +7.
The Talisman you will be using for a long time, until Valencia teritory gets release is the: Jubre talisman. You will want to make this +15. Same as the other items, best startegy is to make it +7 this time, grind money, and buy one +15.
The end-game talisman you will be using is the: Nouver Talisman.
D. Accesories
Here, it's mostly up to you and your playstyle. If you use a lot of mana you might want to get accesories with mana & atack. If you tank a lot, you might want to get accesories with DP.
Now, what i recommend for low level is: any accesories with AP or Accuracy.
For lvl 30-50 i recommend using Bares accesories.
For lvl 50+, like i said, it's mostly up to you, but i recommend: Blue Coral Ring x2; Read Coral earring x2; Ancient Guardian's Necklance & Belt. But this items will get released only with mediah region, so until then you'll have to use: Mark of Shadow x2; Witch's Earring x2; Tree spirit Belt (only if you drop it or have shit loads of money) / Any belt with 3 AP or more; Any crafted necklance with 5-5 AP (e.g Corupt Ruby Necklance).

AWAKENING
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By this level you should know how awankening works.
You will need all of the awakening skills at the highest tier possible.
With awakening the gameplay changes completly, as you'll be able to change weapons mid combos and combine Amulet skills with Scythe skills. The gameplay also changes a lot because most Scythe skills don't allow you to move & don't have any iframes while casting unlike the amulet skills.

COMBOS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some combos you might find usefull (there are many others):
1. Night Crow (in the backward direction only) (Shift+S) before Abysmal Flame (LMB+RMB) to instant cast the Abysmal Flame (the charged version that health steals),
after which time, another Abysmal Flame can seamlessly be wound up with the regular cast time,
but in effect throwing out an extra health steal attack, or an extra down attack if you should choose to do it on a downed enemy.
2. Darkness eruption (F+Shift) do a kick (F) then cast darkness eruption (could possibly be 2 kicks)
3. Stinger (Shift+LMB), can combo seamlessly after most attacks, so if there is an attack that has a delay after it, cancel the delay with Stinger.
A good example of this is the last kick in the kick combo(F,F,F) or Darkness Rebound (F+W/S).
4. Rushing Crow (W+RMB) or Stinger (Shift+LMB) make exceptional gap closers if you down an enemy with Darkness Rebound (F+W/S) or Abysmal Flame (LMB+RMB),
for example and need to get close in for melee down attacks.
5. The wind-up for Mark of Shadow (Shift+RMB) can be eliminated by casting Signs of Agony (E+S) before it, which works out well because Signs of Agony is a stun,
and at higher ranks Mark of Shadow slows down enemies.
6. The small wind-up for Abysmal Flame can be cancelled in the same way listed above.
7. Your teleport (Night Crow [shift+directional key]) can phase you behind enemies, but you will face the wrong direction and it is difficult to turn around quickly,
so your opponent will be able to face you just as quickly as you can turn to attack their back for extra damage, but if you use Storming Crow (Shift+directional key immediately after Night Crow),
it won't phase you back to their front, but it will change the direction you are facing in so you can use it to very quickly rectify your direction. If any gap remains after having done this,
or if your Storming Crow didn't turn you towards your opponent you can use Rushing Crow or Stinger (gap closers mentioned in #4) especially if you have aim assist to turn towards them quickly while attacking.

**ForeWord**
I spent over five hours designing this guide to be not only as thorough as possible, but also as user friendly as possible. I went into details that most other guides never have, and attempted to elaborate on every element that I could to make sure that you have as complete an understanding as possible of not only THIS game, but many others that you play. I did this because I believe that knowledge is open source, and because there is no better way to learn than to have someone willing to take the time to educate you. I realize that there are those out there that know some of these things. If you feel as if I'm attempting to "under-mind" you or anything please know that I'm not. I broke things down into lay-man's terms to make them as easy to understand as possible for EVERYONE. Not a single individual.

A LOT of work went into this guide, and making sure that every possible angle was as detailed as possible without being TOO lengthy, and turning into the EXTREME wall of text that it could have been, so some elements have been shortened, and as such may not sound "100% accurate" but I assure you that they're still as detailed as they need to be.

**KEYNOTES**
In this guide you will find several abbreviated words, or utilized terminologies - Below is a key of what they mean for those that may not know. I'd suggest everyone read this as there is a LOT of information within the section that details a LOT of things regarding games from an ACTUAL game developer's perspective. (Yes, I'm a game developer.)

Show Spoiler

¤ GPU: Graphics Processing Unit - Video Card.

¤ CPU: Central Processing Unit - Your actual computer processor (For Example: Intel Core I7 920 Extreme or AMD Phenom II x6 1100T, so on.)

¤ PSU: Power Supply Unit - A box within your computer that transforms the energy current within your home plug sockets into a usable wave form for your computer, and distributes power accordingly to components within it, to prevent over-voltage and fires (most of the time. ^^ )

¤ VRM: "Voltage Regulation Module's" are tiny chips on your motherboard that assist your PSU in turning the 12 volt signal into a smaller one usable by your processor (somewhere around 1.5Volts) so as to keep it from over-volting and frying itself.

¤ Mobo: Motherboard - The absolute core component of your entire "rig" (Computer) - Without it the CPU would have no way to communicate with the Northbridge, Southbridge, GPU, HDD's/SSD's, or RAM

¤ HDD: Hard Disk Drive - The traditional method of storing data on a computer since the '70s. These drives are thicker in style (about 25MM - The same as a typical computer fan's thickness) and have moving steel cylindrical platters within them that are negatively charged with electronic ions. As the disk spins a special reading head (similar to a record player) driven by ferrite magnets (The strongest known natural magnet on the planet) that is capable of moving across the disks at thousands of times per second reads, and writes information using electrical charges. While traditional and "more reliable" for data storage than an SSD (also more recoverable in case of accidental deletion, formatting, or partition deletion) HDD's do have a nasty down side.
Due to the fact that they have moving platters being read by a tiny head they're subject-able to damage from being moved/dropped/jolted around and also have MUCH slower read, and write times than SSD's, and are typically not the best decision for games like this due to the amount of texture information CONSTANTLY being loaded in the background (unless they spin at approximately 10000RPM or more. - You will know if you have one of these high performance drives because they get so hot that they have to have a nice big heatsink built onto them that nearly doubles their thickness.) HDD's store information in random locations, and as such need to be "Defragmented" to re-align the data in a more "seek-friendly" manner to make gameplay more smooth when loading multiple textures/objects in a single scene.

¤ SSD: Solid State Drive - These drives are different than HDD's in the fact that they have NO moving parts, and operate on an electron-based transmission whereas data is stored in a binary manner, and in a straight line starting from the back to the front. (Whether the Electron is a "1" (Charged, or "alive") or a "0" (Uncharged, or "Dead." Reference Tim Robbins in "Anti-Trust" when he says the famous line "This business is binary, you're a one or a zero. Alive or dead") Due to them having no moving parts and being based off memory architecture HIGHLY similar to that of a RAM module (stick) they don't NEED heatsinks, but users can opt for them if they're daring enough to crack them open, and use VRM Heatsinks on the memory modules. SSD's also do not benefit highly from defragmenting, and have actually been known to have been corrupted by the process simply because of the method they use to store information.

¤ RPM: Rotations Per Minute - This is literally what it sounds like. Think of an arrow rotating in a circle. Every time the arrow points up it has made one rotation.

¤ MB: Megabyte - a Megabyte is 100 Bytes

¤ Mb: MegaBIT - Not to be confused with MegaBYTES - A MegaBIT is a calculation of transmission, NOT size. In each BYTE there are 10 Bits, however there are two that are reserved for the start, and stop of each BYTE'S transmission that aren't used. Ergo 10Mb is actually 1,250 MegaBytes per second, not 10 as one would presume.
To put it further into Perspective Internet Providers advertise speeds in excess of 16Megabits per second. The average consumer thinks "Cool, that means I can download 3 songs in a second." This is WRONG. 16Mbs means you can download approximately One song per second and a half since your actual download speed is in the range of 2.04 MegaBYTES per second, and the average song is anywhere from 3-10MegaBYTES in size.)

¤ GB: Gigabytes - 1024 Bytes is 1GB

¤ OS: Operating System - The actual Graphical User Interface environment that your system runs allowing you to interface with your computer.(Windows, Linux, Unix, Ubuntu, MacOS)

¤ RAM: Random Access Memory - These are the rectangular shaped sticks protruding from your Mobo - Ranging greatly in size from 32MB each to 128GB each (and soon 1TB[Terabyte - a thousand GB]) in size. Your computer's OS sends random information from programs to these to be stored temporarily so that they can be called on faster than if they were still on your hard drive. Typically RAM will store information such as Hit Points, Mana, Casting Range, Casting Speed, Speed of Movement, Swim-States, location of your player on an X,Y,Z axis, and so on. This is why memory editing is the preferred method for hackers.

¤ VRAM: Video Random Access Memory - The RAM that's on your GPU - NOT your Mobo.

¤ FPS: Frames Per Second (This is the actual amount of frames being rendered on your screen at once that create a "moving picture" based off graphic elements that are drawn on the screen one after another. The higher your FPS the smoother your gameplay experience will be.)

¤ VSYNC: Vertical Sync - Every monitor has a maximum amount of hertz that it can render at. VSYNC basically locks your amount of frames rendered to this limit so even if your GPU is capable of rendering 120 FPS or HZ then you will still only render 60 if that's all your monitor can display.)

¤ HZ or Hertz: (Think of one hertz as a single frame - 60hz is 60 frames. Most standard LED/LCD Flat Panel monitors render at a max of 60.)

¤ Core Speed: You'll see me referencing this a LOT. When referring to it I'll say either GPU, or CPU Core Speed - This is the speed in GHz that your CPU/GPU operate at.

¤ Latency: Essentially the "traditional" method of determining lag in the later mentioned form of MS - The higher this is, the worse your connection is, and the longer it takes to send/receive a signal (for example spell cast) to/from the server back to/from your computer.)

¤ TPS: Ticks per Second - TPM is a "rate" at which the server calculates environment variables, such as mob spawning, NPC movements etc. I'm unsure as to what the max TPS is for the server environment in this game, but for form of elaboration a Minecraft server has 20 TPS.

¤ NPC: Non-Playable Character - Can be Hostile, Neutral, or Friendly depending on the flags set per faction in the database.

¤ DB: Short for Database. A large collection of hundreds to thousands of tables containing information specifying variables within the game. 99.9% of player/NPC information, such as individual character design, NPC loot, NPC HP/Mana/casting time/Scripts for boss fights/etc. is stored within these tables.

¤ Core: The actual server itself. Commonly the "core" of a server is referencing the actual scripts that are comprised to make the core operating environment, hence the name "Core." It does not directly reference ONE script, but thousands of pages of code of hundreds to thousands of scripts operating together to make the "Core."

¤ Mob: Hostile enemy NPC.

¤ MS: Milliseconds - The "Traditional" method of determining your latency (Described above) to the server.)

¤ Ping: Ping is another way of saying "Latency" (I honestly don't know which term I will use later in the guide, so I figured I would cover both, just in case.)

¤ Texture Bit: This is the resolution of a texture (256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024, or 2048x2048 are the only sized utilized by this game.) This does NOT mean you can't run at 4k Resolution, or 1440p, This is just the maximum size of the texture used on armor, ground textures, etc.

¤ LOD: Level of Detail: A scale of calculation in which the core of the engine will calculate distance of a texture or mesh from the player's location. In doing so, depending on relative location of the player, the object's mesh, and texture will lose quality to alleviate system resources as you get further away, and vice-versa when you get closer it - will gain detail.

¤ MipMap: Mip Mapping is a technology that allows game programmers the ability to specify texture values based on settings without generating a new texture. Occasionally this technology can cause issues with textures flickering into one another if the core isn't coded properly. It's a rare issue, but I've encountered games where it happens (Rift.) This is also NOT to be confused with texture CLIPPING, where the edges of two textures meet, and for whatever reason don't blend properly. Mip-Mapping is also utilized in game engines to create LOD objects that have varying levels of detail as you get closer, or further from them instead of just being "high quality" all the time and using more resources.

¤ Mesh: A mesh is basically your "skeleton." Grey in color, and basic in shape a "mesh" is a place-holder of sorts - The texture gets displayed onto it, and if it's tessellated the tessellation appears during the visual queue for the texture, postfx are applied afterwards. They're commonly called "milk-shapes" because that's pretty much how they look in appearance.

¤ Bloom: Bloom is a PostFX that allows light to "Bleed" so if for instance you were staring at the sun through a window in game the sun would "bleed" light onto the walls on the inside right on the edge of the window to give it a sort of "realistic glare."

¤ Post-Processing: A.K.A. PostFX, or Post effects - When a game is "displayed" on your screen it all starts with a mesh, then a texture gets applied to it. From there the lighting engine places shadows based on calculations of where the light should shine from based off of relative location of the light source. After that the post-processing engine will generate elements such as bloom (bleed-lighting), HDR (Advanced Coloring Hueristics), SSAO, HBAO+, Anti-Aliasing, Tri-linear Filtering, etc.

¤ Pixel: A pixel is a square or circular "dot" that allows illumination through your screen - One of many of these comprises an image on your screen.

¤ Voxel: A voxel is a triangular based shape that is joined with thousands of others to create a mesh for objects, players, clothing, hair, etc. These triangles constitute an array to create a 3-dimensional object that forms a mesh, and has a texture applied to it. More commonly referred to as a "polygon" when discussed. Voxels are the reason we need Anti-Aliasing due to their shape.

¤ DOF: Depth of Field: This is a Post-Processing Effect that enables the game to calculate (somewhat) intelligently how far distant objects are from the camera's perspective and blur them. Essentially it's an "Out of Focus" effect similar to how a picture would look if focused on an object up close with the background being blurred out due to not being in focus. Apparently people think this makes the game seem more realistic. I'd have to disagree with that, but to each their own.

¤ AA: Not to be confused with Alcoholic's Anonymous - AA stands for Anti-Aliasing which is the technological advancement that allows pixels being displayed to sample information from pixels surrounding them, allowing them to "blend" together by re-sampling them so they appear less jagged and "voxel-like" (Triangular, in case you didn't read above.)

¤ Pop-In: This is where NPC's, Fences, Rocks, Carts, or other "objects" with textures just "pop" onto your screen instead of fading in like they're supposed to at varying levels of detail as you get closer (see mip-map above)

¤ Shadow Striping: This is another problem that gamers face occasionally depending on the core the game runs on, and unfortunately this game not only has shadow striping issues, but texture interlacing issues as well. Shadow striping is EXACTLY what it sounds like in that a shadow gets displayed but instead of being smooth as it should be the post-processing engine within the core overlays them in a manner that appears "striped" instead of smooth.

¤ Texture Interlacing:
A video scanning method for displaying textures in a way so that alternate lines form one sequence - or in this case, alternate textures form one - Occasionally, on lower end post-processing engines this will appear as "striping" as well, but it's just a graphical glitch.

I'm sure there's more that I talked about either in the guide, or even in the key-notes section that some of you may want more information on. If you aren't too scared to ask me, then feel free to, otherwise, simply utilize our good friend Mr. Google to obtain any relevant information you may desire regarding the subject.

Now that you've gained intelligence in the field of Consumer Computer Electronics, and Information based Transmissions as well as a little developer knowledge on how games work let's begin with our guide, shall we?

=====================================================================================================================
Game Window Settings

Show Spoiler

¤ Full Screen: This is the best mode to run this game in. Windowed, and Windowed Fullscreen will not only lock your frames per second to your vertical sync, but they'll also cause your frame rates to drop drastically.
¤ FullScreen Windowed: If you absolutely HAVE to run a "windowed" mode of the game, then this is it. It will impact your frames per second less than windowed mode will, since it won't be drawing anything in the background from your desktop, but it will still draw graphic elements that pop up like facebook notifications, etc.
¤ Windowed: Avoid this, honestly. it has absolutely no benefit, nor purpose (See Cropping Section)

Screen Resolution

Show Spoiler

Run this at the highest option available. Remember however, that the more pixels you force the game to render the more it will take a toll on the core, and VRAM of your GPU. In the "Cropping" discussed later, you'll see why you don't have to lower this for better FPS like you would in 99% of other games.

Texture Quality

Show Spoiler

This is purely VRAM, and HDD/SSD based - You'll want to match your settings accurately based on hardware
Low: These are (From what I can tell) 256x256bit Textures - Great for 1GB and under VRAM GPU's
Medium: These are (From what I can tell) 512x512bit Textures - Great for 1.5-2GB VRAM GPU's
High: These are (From what I can tell) 1024x1024 bit Textures - Great for 2-12GB VRAM GPU's
Ultra: These are (From what I can tell) 2048x2048 bit Textures -
Great for 3-12GB VRAM GPU's

Graphic Quality
**NOTE** Selecting each of these "modes" will change settings in the section under "Advanced Graphics Options" automatically, so make sure anything you don't want isn't checked off below in the Advanced section.

Show Spoiler

¤ Optimized Mode: Optimized Mode is a "fancy" way of saying a LARGE percentage of Shader options have been disabled to optimize the game for low-end users
¤ Very Low: Very low is optimized with a more enriched post-processing effect added to it. It still lacks bloom, hdr, and many other features like lens blur, but it does look MUCH nicer than "Optimized."
¤ Low: Low adds a little bit more view distance, and also further distance on effects, grass density, etc.
¤ Medium: This is where you're really going to be hurting if you're not running at LEAST a 2GB VRAM card with decent clock speeds and decent bit rates on your GPU (512 or higher)
¤ Slightly High: I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between this and Medium, but that may just be because at this point of writing this guide my HD7950 decided to die, and I had to start using my HD6850. Higher resolution shadows as well.
¤ High: A MASSIVE increase in LOD, Blur, Bloom, HDR, and other effects. Higher resolution shadows as well.
¤ Very High: A LARGE increase in the amount of SSAO that is put onto the screen. Higher resolution shadows as well.

¤ Anti-Aliasing: (Allowable on every mode except optimized) Explained in the Key-Notes Section - Will cause performance hit of about 15-50%

¤ SSAO: (Allowable on every mode except optimized) Explained in Key-Notes Section - Will cause performance hit of 0-5%

¤ Depth of Field: (Allowable on every mode) - Explained in Key-Notes Section under "DOF" - Will cause varying performance hit depending on total system configuration.

¤ Show Blood: (Allowable on every mode) - I honestly don't care if I see blood, I know I'm hitting the mob >.<

¤ Show blood on display: (Allowable on every mode) This splatters blood onto your camera or "screen"...why would you want this? It's not an episode of Boondocks.

¤ Screen Filter: (Pointless, really) Allows you to specify certain "filters" to display like sepia, negative, etc...again...why would you want this?

High-End Mode: Still HIGHLY experimental (and temperamental)This is a combination of existing Post-FX we've seen, and others that they're working on implementing but have NOT perfected in any way, so it will DRASTICALLY affect your performance.

¤ "Crop Mode": (View-port) - This allows you to create a section of the screen where the game, and all of it's action, and glory is NOT rendered. This means you can run 1080p without it scaling to match the size of your monitor. Meaning it displays across less pixels; which in turn means it takes LESS performance to render 1080p. Plus it's kind of cool to have HP, map, quests, etc. outside of the game environment. Makes them a LOT easier to see.

¤ Upscale (Downscale): A HORRIBLE option in my opinion. It allows you to downscale the visual resolution so while you're still rendering at 1080p you can set the pixel granularity or "quality" to be lower meaning less detail is rendered into each pixel even though you still render the same amount of pixels. See, I told you it was stupid.

¤ Remove Others lanterns: (I always enable it, dynamic lighting is resource heavy, especially when you've got 50 people causing dynamic lights around you in town ;) )

¤ Option below Upscale is: (Disable Other Player's Effects): If you're not running anything higher than what I've classified as a "Mid-Range System" below then I suggest you check this option to disable their spell effects or you're going to suffer when someone is casting, or fighting next to you, or on your screen.

¤ Option below "Remove others Lanterns" is: "Enable ONLY your effects": I'm not honestly sure what the discernible difference between this and "Disable other players effects" is, but I'm GUESSING that it disables spell effects from NPC's? (god, that would be IGNORANT - How else would we know what they're casting?)

¤ Camera Effects: These are purely CPU, and GPU Core speed based - The faster and more powerful your GPU, and CPU the better you can run with these. Low to mid end systems want these disabled. I disabled every single one that I could. I didn't care for them. It's a matter of personal preference.

¤ Photo Filter: NONE - This is a DirectX Overlay on EVERYTHING rendered which means it has to be rendered twice, - cuts on resources (but only when a screenshot is taken.)

¤ Gamma and Contrast: ( I totally use them to cheat when I need an impromptu lantern ^_^) Use these to adjust the brightness, and darkness of shadows, and the overall image itself.

-----------------Freshly discovered tweaks-----------------

Show Spoiler

**NOTE** These tweaks will edit the game's configuration files, and will require them to be set to "read only" so that they're not editable by the game client anymore. As a result, NO OPTIONS that you change in game after setting this to read only will work. (They'll work temporarily until you shut down the game, then they'll revert to the settings within the file, not the ones you chose in game. As a result of this, this portion of the guide comes at the end, so that you've already (hopefully) made what changes to the in-game graphics that you wanted to. IF you change something in game, and want it to stick then first you will have to remove the read only flag, then change what options you want to, and afterwards you MIGHT have to change the values back to what you wanted, and set it back to read only. As I don't have "palyable" internet (using my phone's 3g atm so my latency is too high to even stay logged into the game for more than a brief second.)

**New information regarding this**
Apparently during the CBT2 people found out that you can be in game while you edit this configuration file, and reload it forcefully from within the game. I'm not sure if this still works, but to do so, simply open chat, then type /reloadGameOption
then hit enter and it should reload it...

1. Navigate to your "documents" folder on your root (where your operating system is - Typically c:/) drive.
2. Then navigate to the "Black Desert" folder.
This location is in an area such as this: "C:\Users\Test\Documents\Black Desert" (On Windows 7)
3. Next open the file labeled "GameOption.txt" with your text Editor. I use Notepad++ ( A Developer Favorite, as it has thousands of plugins, and Syntax Highlighting which is useful for developers, and noobies alike. - If you want syntax highlighting on a configuration file, simply select "Batch" under the "Languages" option)
4. Locate the following Variables within the file:
postFilter
The default for this SHOULD be "1" no matter what you set your settings to in game. Setting this to "0" (Without the quotes) should remove a LOT of the post effect filters even from "optimized" settings. This may cause textures to be far too bright, or dark. Setting Gamma/Contrast values to different levels will alleviate that, but it will probably make things FAR too nasty looking to enjoy. Should only be used as a last result until testing, and tweaking is done.)
characterEffect
I am presuming that this is the spell/swing effects that are emitted when your character performs skill actions. Disabling this WILL give a pleasant boost during combat (presuming it works) but it will make combat VERY bland and probably cause a lot of players to lose desire for the game, so this is purely optional. If you want to disable these effects set it to "0" (Without the quotes.)

dof
Depth of Field (Discussed earlier, in the KeyNotes Section) Disabling this will give a minute performance increase. Set to "0" to disable it (Without the quotes.)

hitFxWeight
The default value for this in my configuration file was "100.0" Using prior knowledge on how integer values like this work I'm ASSUMING that the minimal value for this is 0.1 and the maximum is 100.0 (Think Percentage.) Due to this, you can set any number of values in-between to adjust how hard the hit animations are from 0.1 to 50.5, or 75.9, so on. Just make sure you don't pass 100,0 and that you ONLY have one digit behind the decimal in whatever value you choose. My best guess at this point is that a respectable amount would be 50.0 to give a minimal impact on performance, but still retain some of the "flashiness" that the game has.

More information will be provided when I discover it. Enjoy, folks!

Hi there!

Almost everybody knows that horses can get skills by leveling. But how do they work?
So I have made a list of horse skills and a video for you. In this video I recorded ALL skills and also how they work.
Under the spoiler you can found a list of all horse skills and their meaning.

I've always been annoyed that I was held back at 60 FPS, when I wanted to have the full potential of my experience. I attempted to disable V-Sync in the settings, however I couldn't find the option. I decided to do something else; Here is how to disable V-Sync.

You must have a NVIDIA graphics card to use this method.

Close your game. Open NVIDIA Control Panel.

Click "Manage 3D settings".

Next to Global Settings, select Program Settings.

You will be asked to select a program to customize. Click add. Scroll through the list of the programs and select "BlackDesert64". Press Add Selected Program.

Once added, scroll down to the bottom and you will see vertical sync. Select the setting and change it to off.

Close the window and Black Desert if open. Launch your game and set it to full screen.

Thank you for reading!

BDO NA/EU Horses - Taming and Breeding

$

Hello friends, and welcome to Hog TV. I'm your host, Bushido. Black Desert Online has a great deal of paths for your character to go down, and today I will be going over one of the ones that I have chosen, horse catching and breeding. It is a semi-complex subject for beginners so strap in as I tell you all you need to know about getting your first horse, to breeding, and getting higher tier horses.

  • Getting Started

I'm going to go under the assumption that you have the standard addition of the game like me and not the pre-order or the Explorer's Package, which give you a free higher tier horse. To start off, you're going to want to get to level 10, take the Dark Spirit's quest labeled 'Ah, these goblins!'. You'll go to a goblin camp, slay some goblins, break some faces, raze some buildings, all while completing dark spirit quests. He'll eventually give you a quest to summon your second boss via scroll. Do this, go back to Veila, and get your very first mount. A prestigious donkey with a base movement speed slower than sprinting. YAY! Useless you say? NOPE!

You ride this little ass up until it's level 7, which will coincidentally put you at training level 5, the minimum level requirement to tame your very first stallion or mare.

  • Gearing Up and Preparing

Now that you're training level 5 it's time to gear up. Go to a stable master in any town or city, Heidel or Veilla is what I would recommend, and buy 15-20 rope. I personally would recommend 20 for your first horse, to be safe. It's up to you if you want to add sugar cubes to your gear. I personally don't use them very often, however they are very helpful for taming your first horse, and I used them on my first few. Here's how you make them
You'll need to buy a residence in either Veila or Heidel. Next, click on the NPC finder next to your minimap and click cooking. You will now have a path to a nearby cooking NPC. Open trade with them and buy the following: 40 raw sugar [DO NOT BUY SUGAR. It won't work!] and four waters. This well give you 4 sugar lumps. Yum!

  • Taming

Now it's time for the hardest part of horse taming. Finding a horse. There are horse maps that you can find on google, however many of them haven't served me well. There is too much conflicting information out there because of Korean and Russian versions of the game.

This is a good area to start. The horses WILL respawn, and you WILL find one. This is where it's time to exercise a little patience.
Now that we found a wild horse, we have some rope, and we have some sugar. I know what you're saying. WATDO? I'll tell ya. We're going to want to use our rope, and be patient. If you get too close to the horse, it'll run away. If that happens, STOP. Wait for the horse to stop freaking out, as lassoing it while it's running away is very difficult. You'll want to keep your cross-hair on the horse. You'll know your'e in range when there's a red cross-hair on the horses body. Lasso that big boy up. Now you're playing a mini-game to catch the horse.

Walk towards the horse with W. Whenever the horse whinneys and hops up on his hind legs, spam the space bar. There will be a timer showing how long you need to do this. When he's done flipping shit, proceed to move forward again. This will continue until you finally reach the horse. Don't jump the gun. Wait for a moment. If you chose to get sugar lumps, hit F1, and then right click the lumps to feed the horse. I would try two lumps for every attempt. If the horse kicks you in the face and runs away you failed to tame the horse. No worries. Try again.

If you are attempting to tame the horse without sugar, we need to do something slightly different. When you get to the horse, don't immediately press R to try to mount it. Get close the horse to where the option shows up, and then wait for a good 30-45 seconds. The game doesn't allow you to mount the horse immediately, if you try too quickly you'll get the message 'You tried to mount too quickly', or something to that effect, and the taming will fail. There's less chance of failure if you wait a small while.

Eventually you'll get on the horse. This means the horse has been tamed. Now it's time to walk back to the stable. You won't know the gender of your horse until after you name it, but that's alright. Name it something you like, you'll find that it's not that big of an issue. My friend has a female horse named Bob and it's actually pretty amusing. You'll notice on the way back to the stable the horse is actually a bit slower than the donkey. Don't freak out. You can't ride the horse to it's full speed until after you check it in to the stable master.

  • Breeding

In order to be a successful breeder you'll need a few things. You'll need two tier two horses. Tier two horses are found in the wild, just like tier one horses. There's a very easy way to tell the difference. Tier one horses come in a variety of colors, and have a light muscle tone. Tier two horses come in one color, a milky turd brown. They also have highly defined muscles in their legs and chest. We want to go on a tier two horse catching spree until we have one male and one female Tier two horse.

Now we have a male and a female, you take them and mash em up until they pop out a small baby horse, right? Not yet, unfortunately. Now it's time to level up the horses. In order to get the best odds of getting a higher tier horse, I recommend using a breeding calculator. I'll leave a link in the description down below. For example, the best way to get a higher tier horse with two tier two horses is to level them up to 6 and 7. It doesn't matter if you amke the male of the female the level 7 horse. This provides a 38% chance of a male T3 horse, a 36% chance of a female T3 horse, and a 26% chance of a female T2 horse. This is good for a horse breeder, because the possibility of getting the ever-rare female is actually very high at this level range. If you get unlucky and get a T2 female again, don't remorse, it won't take long to grind it up to level 6 again and use the second seed of the T2 male.

Alternatively you could level both horses up to level 12 and breed them for a 27% chance of a T4 horse, which isn't that low. You also get a 40% chance of a T3 female and a 34% chance of a T3 male. That choice is yours. I personally went and leveled them both up to 12 my first time and got two T4 males, which actually kind of sucks, because I didn't have a high tier female to breed them with.

Let's talk about breed counters and death counters. When a horse 'dies' it doesn't actually go into the ground, it goes back to the stables. They'll have a death counter on them. The only thing the death counter does is decrease the effectiveness of your horse in breeding. On the link provided you can toy with the death tokens and see how much it impacts breeding. Death tokens make a massive difference at higher tier horses. Breeding counters are how many times that horse can breed. Female horses can only breed one time, and they are rare in the wild, making female horses extremely valuable, and extremely rare.

In my personal opinion you want to use the breeding calculator to stack the odds of getting a female horse in your favor as high as possible. You don't have to follow this guideline, it's just what I started doing. You can also sell your seeds on the stable market, however I wouldn't do this for females, because you own't get the foal. After you use the seeds, you can put the horses into exchange. You exchange two horses for another horse, with the same chance of offspring being the same as breeding. The only difference is you lose the two parents that you put into exchange for the new foal.

Another thing worth mentioning is higher tier females are still worth money if you choose to sell to players. There's an item at the pearl shop that resets the breed count of horses, and since females are so rare, there are people that will buy a seedless female so they can do this themselves. If you choose to go down this path, you'll be giving up the exchange that you can do with your female though, which is an unfortunate loss.

  • Leveling

The only thing to touch up on is the way to level up your horses. There are a couple of methods. One method is to simply ride yours horses individually. There are a couple other things you can do as well. If you buy or make a saddle, this will make your horses move a bit faster. When they move faster, they level up faster. You can also buy a trainer's garb from the market, or get it for free from reward milestones for a high enough level in training. In my opinion it takes too long to get this garb from the milestone to be helpful, so I would recommend purchasing the garb if it's something you would like to have.

Another option of leveling up is to buy a wagon. Wagons can be purchased from the stable masters in large cities, and I would recommend buying the Farm Wagon. for 180k silver, you and done it's a bit faster to train two at the same time using a wagon as opposed to train two separately individually. Connecting one horse to the wagon gives it normal exp with no boost. However connecting two horses to the wagon gives it slightly more than 50% experience to each horse, giving it a slight net gain. This is also helpful if you're going to be at your computer, because you can incorporate trading into your horse training, because you have a wagon and make some decent cash. I'll be making a trading guide soon, and put the link in the description down below if that's something you;re interested in.

As you breed new horses your horses will gain different abilities. I wouldn't worry too much about horse abilities until you get up to the much higher tier horses, T5 or T6. The right abilities on these high tier horses will be extremely valuable, both monetarily and practically.

  • Words of Wisdom

In order for your horse to gain experience you must travel a distance. You cannot auto run into a wall or in circles for experience. Daum has just added a new feature in the game called 'auto loop' where you can set a route up for your mount to run endlessly. You set up that loop by going to where you want the loop to start, holding down alt and clicking to where you want the horse to turn around, and right clicking where you want the horse to start again. The horse will proceed to run back and forth between this path. You will know you have done this properly when the path turns green instead of blue.

  • Let me know if you have questions!

Armed with this knowledge you're ready to force your way to the top with an empire of incestuous breeding. If you have any questions feel free to comment down below and I'll do my best to answer. If you have any guide suggestions for the future, I'd be glad to hear them. Season 4 Siege guide, korean Translation

Here is a link to a translation by me of the "Korean Season 4 Siege rule set".
tinyurl.com/jlwkras

As stated in CM_Tytyes post we are to get the "Season 4" siege rules for Node & Region sieges, this rule set has only recently been introduced into the Korean version. There are a large number of changes between the season 3 and season 4 siege rule set so you may all want to review the Kr guide.

Key Changes (note times are of course for the Kr client):
- Node wars 6 days a week, Sun-Fri, 20:00 - 22:00, each Node siege is on a set day of the week.
- Region Sieges Saturday 20:00 -24:00 (guilds can only enter if they have a stage 2 or 3 Node)
- Lots of new "annexes" that can be added to a fortress; cannon observatories, depots, recovery stations, elephant stalls, etc
- you cant have nodes and a castle

Notes on the translation:
Most of this document is a translation of the original document. Although the informal use of Korean has left several areas open for interpretation, and variations in nomenclature that I have tried to standardise. Black text is a translation from the original, italic text is where I was unsure of the intention of the Korean, red Hangul still needs translating, Blue is my own text added to try and add some clarification to certain points in the document. Text within [] is more a question I am asking. Note this is the Korean rule set and as we haven't yet received a siege rule set things of course may be open to change. but hopefully this guide will give you some insight into how sieges will work in BDO.

Armor and Options

---------------------------

NOTE : Boss Armor meaning Giath Helmet, Bheg Gloves, Mukan Shoes and Tree Spirit Armor are the best ingame and BiS ( Best in Slot) for every Class. However they are expensive to get and to repair so the options down below are what you should use until you get enough silver for Boss Armor.

Possibilities : - Full Grunil; Pros : Lot of Gems Cons : No additional WP

- Grunil Helmet & Gloves with Taritas Armor & Shoes; Pros : Additional WP; Cons : Fewer Gem Slot, Lesser AP

- Agerian Helmet, Gloves & Shoes with Taritas Armor; Pros : Cast & Attack Speed Cons : Very few Gem Slots, Lesser AP
- Grunil Helmet & Gloves with Rocaba Armor & Shoes; Pros : Additional WP, Additional HP, Gem Slots Cons : Lesser AP

My personal preference is full Grunil, since i like the Crystal Slots and always have them filled with the gems i am going to list later.

The extra Ap is nice to go along with that. If you dont have the silver to fill all the Gem Slots i would recommend one of the Options including Agerian and / or Taritas.

Weapons and Options

--------------------------------

Mainhand :

Yuria : This is what you should be using while saving up Silver for Kzarka

Bares : Alternative to Yuria

Liverto : If there are enough Kzarka Shortswords in your Servers Marketplace skip Liverto, since u will regret putting the effort and silver in to upgrade it, otherwise get one as soon as possible.
Kzarka : BiS for every Class, get this as soon as possible and try to upgrade it as fast as you can. If you cant get it to drop or cant afford it use Yuria / Bares until you can.

Offhand :

First of all Kunoichis should use Kunai's since they benefit from the skills granted with it and get more skills then Ninjas with them. (Ninjas use Shurikens)

Quitar : Grants Flat 5 Accuracy and Increased Accuracy with Enhancments. This is what you should be using if you are PvP'ing or farming higher lvl Mobs.
Estique : Grants Ap, and Ap increase with Enhancment. Can be used for PvE, if you are farming enemies lower lvl then you.
Nouver ( Boss Offhand ) : Grants Ap, and Ap increase with Enhancment. Best for PvE if you are using Accessoires with Accuracy since this does not grant Accuracy.

My personal preference is to save up Silver for Kzarka, whilst using Yuria, or try and get it to drop since its objectively better than all the other weapons, for Offhand i recommend Quitar since you will be farming Valencia enemies quite a lot and those are often lvl 60 and higher, if using Nouver or Estique you would not hit them most of the time which would result in less dmg even though you have more AP.

Accessoires & Options
---------------------------------
NOTE : I do not list all available Accessoires, just the ones i think are viable BUT If you want to use something else DONT take my word for it ! Play how you want !

Earrings :

Witch's Earring : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : None Upgrade : +2 Ap
Blue Whale Earring : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : +100 HP Upgrade +2 AP
Fugitive Calcs Earring : Base Ap 5 Extra Effects : +50 Stamina & Max MP/WP/SP Upgrade : +2 Ap, +20 Stamina & Max MP/WP/SP
Blue Coral Earring : Base Ap : 4 Extra Effects : +25 Max MP/WP/SP Upgrade : +2 Ap
Red Coral Earring : Base Ap : 2 Extra Effects : Accuracy +3 & Stamina +50 Upgrade : +2 Ap +1 Accuracy

Blue Whale and Fugitive Earrings are the BiS but they are very expensive so a lot of players cant afford them. If you are using Nouver or Estique offhand i would go for Red Coral Earrings, if you are using Quitar go for Blue Coral until you have enough silver for Either Blue Whale or Fugitive.

Rings :

Mark of Shadow : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : None Upgrade : +2 Ap
Ring of Crescent Guardian : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : None Upgrade : +3 Ap
Blue Coral Ring : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : +25 Max MP/WP/SP Upgrade : +1 Ap & +5 Max MP/WP/SP
Red Coral Ring : Base Ap : 4 Extra Effects : 3 Dp & +50 Stamina Upgrade : +1 Ap & +1 Dp

Ring of Crescent Guardian is BiS but very expensive. I would recommend getting Blue or Red Coral Rings.

Necklace :

Scarla Necklace : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effets : 5 Dp Upgrade : +1 Ap & +1 Dp
Sichil Necklace : Base Ap : 7 Extra Effects : 3 Dp Upgrade : +3 Ap & +2 Dp
Ogre Ring : Base Ap : 10 Extra Effects : None Upgrade : +5 Ap

Ogre Ring and Sichil are very expensive and / or rare. Go with Scarla until you can afford one of them or get lucky.

Tree Spirit Belt : Base Ap : 5 Extra Effects : +80LT & +1 Accuracy Upgrade : +1 Accuracy & +2 Ap
Belt of Shultz : Base Ap : 3 Extra Effects : +50LT Upgrade : +10 LT & +2 Ap
Ancient Weapon Core : Base Ap : 4 Extra Effects : +50LT & 4 Dp Upgrade : +10LT & +1 Ap & +1 Dp

Basilisks Belt is BiS but if you cant afford one go with Tree Spirit if your lucky or one of the other 2 options but preferably upgraded.

This is the Core Kunoichi Build you should aim for at 56 after that you should probably save skill points to spend on the Awakening Weapons Skills.

RuneScape's Christmas celebration is well underway, and here's hoping you're already well into the festive mood.

This week, there's an exciting soft present under the tree for questing completionists – the master quest cape.

The next episode of The Pinch who Stole Christmas is 2007 Runescape Gold
. Find out what happened to Jack Frost's mum, unlock another event and unwrap another gift.

Finally, the ranged and magic defenders to accompany last week's release are here, filling out your top-end arsenal with awesome and versatile off-hands.

Remember – find out about everything that's coming up this Christmas by clicking the snowman icon on the Ribbon or Minimap bezel – including the Advent Calendar and Winter Weekends.

Master Quest Cape

The shoulder-warmer of choice for the most avid of lore fiends, the master quest cape is obtained from Curator Haig Halen at Varrock Museum by completing all story-focused content in game.

Full details are available in the Hero interface under the Completionist tab, but generally speaking, wearing the cape requires that you:

Complete all quests, mini-quests and unabridged sagas.
Unlock all additional post-quest rewards.
Complete story-rich content such as Court Cases and Player-Owned Ports voyages.
Complete content derived from – or an expansion of – quest content, such as Temple Trekking.
Obtain all titles which demonstrate a story accomplishment, such as Vyrelord or Annihilator.
Obtain items significant to the storyline, such as the gilded cabbage or crest of Seren.
Obtain lore journals.
It's a challenge to relish for those of you who can't get enough RuneScape story. We look forward to seeing these crop up in-game!

Live and Let Slide | Christmas Quest – Part 2

Now that Jack Frost's released from his gift-wrapped prison, it's time to free the Queen of Snow from the slippery perps of The Pinch who Stole Christmas.

Complete this week's part to unlock the ice skating activity – which awards Agility XP – and the Ice Skating emote.

Ranged and Magic Defenders

As with the melee equivalents released last week, the level 70, 80 and 90 ranged and magic defenders require drops from the Barrows chest, Nex and the Kalphite King respectively, along with other items listed below.

Level 70

Tainted repriser | Combine Karil's two-handed crossbow with a corruption sigil
Blighted rebounder | Combine Ahrim's staff with a corruption sigil
Level 80

The ancient repriser and ancient lantern can both can be created by combining an ancient emblem with a chaotic splint – 150,000 tokens from the Dungeoneering Reward Store.

Level 90

Kalphite repriser | Combine an off-hand ascension crossbow with a piece of perfect chitin
Kalphite rebounder | Combine a seismic singularity with a piece of perfect chitin
Enjoy!

The festive season's in full swing in Gielinor, so get stuck in and have fun. Let us know your thoughts over on the forums.

The Pinch who Stole Christmas | Free-to-Play Quest

Christmas has come early to RuneScape as we kick off a month-long festive celebration.

Access the Christmas interface in-game by clicking either the snowman icon on the Ribbon or the Minimap bezel for full details of everything we?re running: our multi-part Christmas holiday quest, the return of Winter Weekends and loads of community events. There?s also an Advent Calendar which will earn you useful ? sometimes rare ? gifts each December day, all the way up to Christmas.

The Ninjas have also snuck in a long-awaited overhaul and expansion of Cheap Runescape Gold
, making them the ultimate off-hand weapons for dedicated dual-wielders.

Read on to find out more!

The Pinch who Stole Christmas | Free-to-Play Quest

How to Start

Speak to one of the snow imps at the Priffdinas, Burthrope or Lumbridge lodestones.

Requirements

None

Across Gielinor, individuals linked to the festive season are going missing, and slippery figures waddling in the shadows are the prime suspects.

It?s down to you to find out what?s going on. Speak to one of the snow imps at the Priffdinas, Burthrope or Lumbridge lodestones to begin an investigation that will take in a suspiciously present-laden iceberg off the coast of Daemonheim...

The Pinch who Stole Christmas is a multi-part holiday quest that?ll play out over the next four weeks. Come back throughout December to get to the bottom of this thoroughly fishy mystery.

Note that ? as a holiday quest ? The Pinch who Stole Christmas does not award quest points and is not a Quest Cape requirement. It will be available to play until the update on the 11th of January.

Complete each week?s part and you?ll unlock a Christmas activity. This time it?s the Great Gielinor Bake Off, which awards Cooking and Defence XP for preparing and taste-testing all manner of festive fare.

There?s a new Christmas cosmetic reward to enjoy each week, too. First up, it?s a new snowboard design. If you didn?t get a snowboard last year, you?ll get one as part of the reward. Lost snowboards can be reclaimed from Diango.

Advent Calendar

From 00:00 UTC on December 1st, get special gifts every day for free with our in-game Advent Calendar!

Access the Advent Calendar through the Christmas interface, and check in each day until Christmas for a new gift, including useful ? and sometimes rare ? items. Every day will be different - and a surprise - so keep coming back for your free gifts.

If a particular gift takes your fancy and you want more of it, fear not! There will be more like it on Treasure Hunter for that day only. Keep an eye out for the new untradeable rare that will be gifted out during the month, and will be available to Ironmen too!

If you miss a day, there?s no need to worry ? you can claim the gifts from previous days at any time. Note that the advent calendar will remain available for around three weeks after Christmas Day, so you can pick up any unclaimed gifts.

Please note: since the items on offer are from Treasure Hunter, the Advent Calendar is not available to Ironman players (except for the mystery untradeable rare mentioned above).

Winter Weekends

From 12:00 UTC every Friday for the next six weeks, enjoy 72 hours of frosty fun with Winter Weekends.

This week kicks off with a Dungeoneering weekend, offering double tokens from regular dungeons and Sinkholes, and +50% base Sinkhole lamp XP.

You can find full details of each of the six weekends in the Christmas interface.

New Defenders

Everyone?s favourite off-hands of old get a much-deserved upgrade today, plus three new tiers ? all the way up to level 90!

The new defenders follow the same progression system as the existing ones, so you?ll need the dragon defender to get started.

Upgrade to the next tier by collecting a special drop. Note that you?ll need to have the previous tier of defender or better equipped or in your inventory to get it. The special drop can also be used in the creation of upcoming ranged and mage defenders.

However, this week sees the release of the following 3 new melee defenders only. Here?s a list of what they are and how to make them:

Corrupted Defender | Level 70

Get a corrupted sigil from the regular Barrows chest
Use it on a new or fully repaired Dharok?s greataxe, Verac?s flail, Guthan?s spear or Torag?s hammer
Ancient Defender | Level 80

Get an ancient emblem from Nex
Use it on a chaotic splint which can be purchased from the Dungeoneering Rewards Store
Drygore Defender | Level 90

Get a piece of perfect chitin from the Kalphite King
Use it on a new or fully repaired off-hand drygore mace, sword or rapier
On top of this, there have been some improvements to defenders overall:

Defenders allow use of abilities that otherwise require a shield
+3% accuracy boost
Enjoy!

It?s the most wonderful time of the year in Gielinor, so get stuck in and have fun. Let us know your thoughts over on the forums!

Raids

Requirements

You must be a RuneScape member.

No level requirements, but high combat levels and top-end gear are recommended.

The first of RuneScape's Raids – The Liberation of Mazcab – is now yours to conquer.

To start, join a group of up to 10 players in the Grouping System, and select 'The Liberation of Mazcab'. Then, head north to the magical barrier between the two goebies, and enter to get started.

You'll venture through an instanced area, using your teamwork and combat skill to make it to two bosses: the cruel Beastmaster Durzag and the mighty water elemental Yakamaru. Even reaching them will take teamwork and skill, and it'll take everything you've got to defeat them.

There are also Raid Feats – special acts of daring for the bravest and craziest raiders to aspire to. There are five per boss, and completing all of them unlocks the Daredevil title.

These are some of the most challenging encounters ever seen in RuneScape, so you're on your own from here. We're really excited to see you get to grips with them.

Explore Mazcab

It's not all epic battles, though. There's a strange, alien world to explore – and a downtrodden people to help.

Nemi Forest

Traverse this bizarre, ever-changing forest, interacting with the environment to find hidden secrets. It shifts over time, so head off the beaten path to unlock hidden areas, containing XP rewards, lore, reputation and rarer rewards - such as a new pet.

Supply Escort

Start this safe-PvP D&D at Otot or Kanatah and ferry supplies between them.

More to Explore

As you explore, you'll find airut to fight, tasks to complete and history to uncover. Travel wide, and become a hero to the struggling goebie people.

Mazcab concept art
Rewards

Contributing to the death of a Raid boss grants you a roll on its drop table, which includes Teci (the Raids currency), reputation with the goebies, or rare drops such as achto armour or tradeable abilities.

Note that once you loot a boss, it is locked and you cannot loot it again until two days have passed.

If you are owed rewards that you haven't picked up, you can speak to the Fetcher outside the Raids entrance. He can also tell you which bosses are currently locked for you.

Also outside the Raids entrance is a rewards vendor, who will exchange Teci for Raids armour and new abilities.

Level 90 Armour

First among the rewards are spectacular new level 90 tank armour sets for all three combat styles – primeval for magic, teralith for melee, and tempest for ranged – with some awesome set effects.

Regular versions of these sets can be purchased for Teci from the Rewards Store. These degrade until destroyed, and occasionally reset cooldowns on your defensive abilities. The frequency with which this occurs will increase the more set pieces you wear.

Achto versions of the sets can be earned as rare drops from Raid bosses. These also degrade, but only until broken, and can be repaired using Teci. Achto sets have the same set bonus as the regular sets, plus another: they increase main-hand weapon damage when a shield is wielded in the off-hand. The more pieces you wear of a set, the stronger the effect.

Abilities

These are available from the Rewards Shop. You can use Teci to purchase these for your own use, or to purchase a tradeable codex which teaches any of the available abilities.

Corruption Blast: a basic magic ability that deals damage over six seconds, and will periodically attempt to jump to nearby targetable enemies.
Corruption Shot: a basic ranged ability, with an otherwise identical function to Corruption Blast.
Storm Shards / Shatter: using this pair of Constitution abilities – basic and threshold respectively – the caster applies up to 10 Storm Shard stacks on a target, then unleashes them all at once with Shatter. This ignores the damage cap, and can hit up to 30k life points. Note that multiple players can apply Storm Shards to a target, and that Shatter will use up all stacks currently applied.
Surging Onslaught: a Constitution ultimate that grows more damaging the longer it is channelled – at an increasingly debilitating cost to the caster.
Reputation Rewards

Reputation can be earned in Raids, by completing solo activities around Mazcab, or by redeeming any mysterious relics you picked up from the Summer Special Cosmic Foresight effect.

Rewards follow a linear path of unlocks, and include discounts in the in-Raid supply store, travel improvements on Mazcab, a pet and titles.

This Week's Streams and Q&As

Epic content needs ample coverage, and RuneScape will be all over Twitch with Raids this week.

Look out for RuneScape firsts from the community's top boss fighters, and check out our live stream Q&A schedule below. Both streams are coming your way on Tuesday the 14th of July:

Tuska has been laid low by the mighty Godless, and she's made a heck of a dent.

Courtesy of RuneLabs and F D C's original idea, you can now use your vis wax to charge up quick lodestone teleports.

Last – but not least – the Ninjas have given you two new Grand Exchange slots – one for everyone, and one for members.

Read on for further details!

Tuska Falls

After a month-long battle, Tuska's reign of galactic terror has been brought to an end by Gielinor's Godless. She's careened through the planet's atmosphere, and crashed to a lifeless halt.

You can still access the Tuska D&D by clicking the magical barrier near to Wizard Chambers, and purchase the Tuska World Event rewards – albeit at an increased points cost – from Chambers himself.

Note that the previous World Event armour sets are no longer available from the Tuska rewards shop.

If you'd like to rewatch the cutscene that plays on first log-in after today's update, you can do so by talking to Chambers.

But this is much more than a monument to Gielinor's victory over the beast goddess. From next week, the portal on Tuska's back will open, giving you access to a strange new world.

Get ready to venture to Mazcab – home to the goebies, and to RuneScape's all-new Raids!
